Are boot camps still worth it in 2020? Oh yes. 2020 and beyond! The stats are there. As people continue to stress that boot camps are a mere waste of time that the “job placement” statistics do not add up, boot camps continue to effectively take motivated people from level zero to job entry-level status within the timeframe of 3 to 6 months. And if you do not want to believe the statistics, what would you rather believe? Hearsay? A recent report dated August 2020 published by Career Karma, shows that more than 74% of tech boot camp graduates land their dream jobs within six months of graduating. In 2019, about 33,959 people graduated from boot camps showing that there has been a 4.3% growth increase since 2018.
And at the end of 2020, expect that number to blow up! You are more likely to consider an online tech boot camp today, than you would last year. For obvious reasons of course… Boot camps were originally designed to serve as affordable alternatives to college degrees and diplomas. But as each year passed, plus the success rate, boot camps became pricy. Thus defeating the entire purpose of the program. However, non-profits are appearing within this space, and making free tech camps accessible to people who want to take their newfound passion to a next level. There are free tech boot camps. Completely free. They provide resource materials, Yet, as effective as a paid one. Even more effective. Aside the facts that boot camps shorten your journey to a new career in tech, it saves you time, and energy without compromising ability, thoroughness, and work ethics. Boot camp is skill specific. The new scope of work is skill specific. Boot camp is the way go. The question then is not whether boot camps are worth the stress in 2020, it is whether boot camp is right for you.
