UI design: First things first!

Picture
Design is all about beauty.
It has to be attractive. That “ease” kind of attractive.
Beauty is many things, but never confuse beauty with stress.
People naturally prefer things that are easier to use.
If it is easy, it is
 attractive.

Nonetheless, attraction is user defined. And as a UI designer, it is your duty to figure out what attracts people
and implement that in a computer interface.
If you’ve ever found yourself on a website that you cannot navigate with ease nor understand what it offers, chances are that you will close the page and check out another one. That is an instance of a poor User Interface design.

UI is meant to stimulate fun.

Simplicity and effectiveness is the foundation of User Interface

If
users cannot interact smoothly with computers, the entire purpose of creating the machine is defeated.

And if the machine is meant to make life easier, the interface should not be complex.

User Interface
refers to “the platform”. This is what people relate with to access digital products or services. It is the point where humans and computer interact.

As technology evolved, the roles and duties of the UI designer became explicit. Systems (not limited to computer interfaces, but also mobile phones, virtual reality, augmented reality and screen-less interfaces), accessibility, preferences and expectations demanded more. And as more businesses up their online services, UI designers are needed to meet up with these demands.

But know
this, business owners and startup founders would not compromise just to meet up with the increasing demand. There are specific skills that these hiring managers look out for. Hard and soft skills proven by industry leaders to be best suited for the UI design field.

Learn more about these
skills here.

L
ooking at the bigger picture, starting a career in the design and tech industry is not as difficult as it may appear. The more important thing is to be sure that this is your next career phase.
